Davor Krajnović
Thanks to a technique that reveals galaxies in 3D, astronomers can now show that many galaxies have been wrongly classified. Davor Krajnovi\’c argues that the classification scheme proposed 85 years ago by Edwin Hubble now needs to be revised.box3

These 260 elliptical galaxies can now be visualised in 3D and their motions properly understood. (Colour coding and black lines as described in Box 3.) (Credit: Krajnović et al. 2011, MNRAS, 414, 2923)
