MIT Media Lab researchers have created a new imaging system that can acquire visual data at a rate of one trillion frames per second. That’s fast enough to produce a slow-motion video of light traveling through objects. Video: Melanie Gonick.

Fascinating concept. Can you get spectral measurements of light before and after traversing some electrical field or strong gravity field or plasma? This would allow you to determine the exact redshift of light. This would be a great tool.
The most critical and vulnerable part of the Big Bang theory is the interpretation of the spectral redshift of light coming from distant galaxies as a kind of doppler shift – the light of the galaxy is shifted toward the red; therefore, the galaxy is receding from us. But if there is some other explanation for the redshift besides recesssion of the source, then the whole Big Bang theory is called into question.
